Smad5 was detected in immersion fixed paraffin-embedded sections of human colon using 5 µg/mL Human Smad5 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF2250) overnight at 4 °C. Tissue was stained with the Anti-Goat HRP-DAB Cell & Tissue Staining Kit (brown; Catalog # CTS008) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Background

Smad5 (Smad; an amalgam of the Sma gene in worm and the MAD gene in fruitfly) is a transcriptional modulator that is activated by BMP receptor kinases. Human Smad5 shares 99% amino acid sequence homology with the mouse or rat protein.
