Novus Biologicals launches new N Cadherin antibody

N Cadherin antibodies are plasma membrane markers and have recently been identified as potential prognostic tumor markers. Novus Biologicals just released a new N Cadherin antibody (catalog # NBP1-48309). This new N-Cadherin antibody cross-reacts with human and mouse, and is useful for Immunoprecipitation, Immunofluorescence and Western blot analysis.

Novus' new mouse monoclonal N Cadherin (13A9) antibody is of particular interest as it has been published in 18 scientific publications, including articles published in the Journal of Neuroscience and the Journal of Cell Biology. The immunogen to which this N Cadherin antibody was made is the cytoplasmic domain of human N Cadherin [Swiss-Prot# P19022].

N Cadherin, also known as Neuronal Cadherin or Cadherin 2, is a classical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily. N Cadherin is a calcium dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein comprised of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. N Cadherin functions during gastrulation and is required for establishment of left-right asymmetry. At certain CNS synapses, presynaptic to postsynaptic adhesion is mediated at least in part by N Cadherin.  This protein has also been identified as a potential prognostic marker of a number of tumors.

Novus provides other N Cadherin antibodies, proteins, RNAi and lysates which can be found here. N Cadherin -related products are also available from Novus, including: Cathepsin D antibodies, E Cadherin antibodies and NOD2 antibodies.
