Background

The SPP1 gene encodes an acidic matrix protein, mainly expressed in mineralized tissues, kidney and atherosclerotic vessels. This protein also contributes to several steps in the process of prostate carcinogenesis and metastasis.

FAQs for Osteopontin/OPN Antibody (NBP1-59190). (Showing 1 - 1 of 1 FAQs).

  1. I ordered this antibody and used it to detect osteopontin isolated from bovine milk. Three bands were detected when this antibody was used and one intense band showed similar molecular weight with casein. Since casein is abundant in milk, I am wondering if this osteopontin antibody has been tested to cross react with other proteins?
    • The immunogen for this antibody shows no similarity with casein, so is not predicted to cross-react. It hasn't been directly tested for this, but no other proteins show up in a BLAST of the immunogen, so most likely this is something that is uncharacterized.
