CD8 Antibody Summary

Immunogen
Mouse myeloma cell line NS0-derived recombinant feline CD8 alpha
Ala22-Tyr188
Accession # P41688
Specificity
Detects feline CD8 alpha in direct ELISAs and Western blots. In direct ELISAs and Western blots, approximately 25% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse CD8 alpha is observed, approximately 5% cross-reactivity with recombinant canine CD8 alpha is observed, and less than 1% cross-reactivity with recombinant human CD8 alpha is observed.

Background

CD8 is a dimeric complex made up of two Ig superfamily members. The CD8 alpha chain is a 34 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that is disulfide-linked, either to itself forming CD8 alpha alpha , or to an unrelated 30-35 kDa CD8 beta chain, forming CD8 alpha beta . CD8 alpha contains one V-type Ig-like domain in its extracellular region that binds to class I MHC molecules. CD8 alpha beta is a TCR coreceptor, while CD8 alpha alpha promotes T cell survival and differentation. Feline CD8 alpha extracellular region shares 58%, 47%, 51%, and 69% amino acid sequence identity with human, mouse, porcine, and canine CD8 alpha extracellular regions, respectively.
