Human BMP-2 Recombinant Protein Summary

A homodimeric protein consisting of two 114 residues glycosylated polypeptide chains and corresponding to amino acids Gln283 - Arg396 of BMP2.

Source: CHO cell line

Novus' biologically active proteins are stringently purified to provide only the safest and most highly effective proteins available. This protein was expressed in E. coli, purified by HPLC, QC tested by SDS-PAGE and Western Blot and validated on appropriate cell lines for bioactivity. All HPLC and bioactivity data is provided for your assurance.
Details of Functionality
The ED50, as determined by inducing alkaline phosphatase production using murine ATDC5 cells, is less than 200 ng/ml.
Protein/Peptide Type
Recombinant Protein
Endotoxin Note
Less than 1 EU/mg of the rHuBMP-2 as determined by LAL method.

Theoretical MW
26 kDa.
Disclaimer note: The observed molecular weight of the protein may vary from the listed predicted molecular weight due to post translational modifications, post translation cleavages, relative charges, and other experimental factors.

Packaging, Storage & Formulations

Store at 4C short term. Aliquot and store at -20C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
Reconstitution Instructions
Reconstitute with 4 mM HCl to a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.

This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degrees C, but should be kept at -20 degrees C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is most stable at -20 to -80 degrees C, and can be stored for one week at 2-8 degrees C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degrees C to -80 degrees C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Alternate Names for Human BMP-2 Recombinant Protein

  • BMP2
  • BMP-2
  • BMP-2A
  • BMP2ABone morphogenetic protein 2A
  • bone morphogenetic protein 2

Bone morphogenetic protein 2 plays a dominant role in embryonic dorsal-ventral patterning, organogenesis, limb bud formation, and bone formation and regeneration. Mature BMP-2 forms disulfide linked homodimers and heterodimers with BMP-7. BMP-2 induces cartilage and bone formation, and BMP-2/BMP-7 heterodimers are even more potent than BMP-2 homodimers. BMP-2 also promotes the maintenance and repair of colonic epithelium, suppresses neuronal dopamine production, and is required for cardiac contractility.
