Background
AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) is a heterotrimeric complex consisting of a catalytic alpha subunit and regulatory beta and δ subunits. The alpha subunit of AMPK is activated allosterically by AMP, and by phosphorylation via the AMPK kinase LKB1. Active AMPK down-regulates anabolic pathways such as fatty acid and cholesterol synthesis, and up-regulates catabolic pathways such as glycolysis and fatty acid oxidation.
Limitations
This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis. Primary Antibodies are guaranteed for 1 year from date of receipt.
AMPK Alpha 1 and lipid metabolism of adipocytes AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) is best known as a sensor of oxidative stress. AMPK is activated by increased intracellular AMP levels, which are a result of alterations in cellular metabolism from causes such as hypoxia, changes in ATP, sene... Read full blog post.
