We know how important it is to your research to have access to antibodies specific for your model. As it is often impossible to know which antibody will work best for a specific sample and application, we now offer SuperNovus Packs. These packs include different antibodies to the same protein to give you the ability to decide for yourself. The SuperNovus Packs are all offered at a discount price compared to purchasing each antibody individually. Mammalian amino acid transport systems consist of a large variety of transporters. The amino acid transporter, cystine/glutamic acid transporter xCT, for system xc has been proposed to be responsible for the cystine transport through the plasma membrane. System xc mediates an amino acid exchange and prefers cystine and glutamate as its substrates. The transporter designated as xCT requires 4F2 heavy chain (4F2hc:CD98) for its functional expression, and belongs to the family of amino acid transporters that associates with the type II membrane glycoproteins such as 4F2hc. In brain, it has been proposed that system xc is up-regulated in glial cells upon oxidative stress and plays an essential roles to protect neurons against oxidative stress. Recent studies have implicated xCT as a gateway that Kaposi's sarcoma herpesvirus (KSHV) uses to enter cells.

xCT: The Membrane's Gatekeeper xCT is an obligate, electroneutral, membrane-bound anionic transporter responsible for regulating particular amino acid gradients via their transport through plasma membrane. The antiporter xCT superficially resembles an ion channel and preferentially... Read full blog post.
xCT: Friend or Foe? There are two opposing sides to the controversial cysteine/glutamate antiporter. On one hand, it can be viewed a guardian of the cell, protecting it from the damaging oxidative stress that can cause cell death and even cancer. But, conversely, it has... Read full blog post.
