Western Blot: RAGE Antibody [NBP2-03951] - Analysis of RAGE in 1) human lung tissue lysate, mouse lung tissue lysate in the 2) absence and 3) presence of immunizing peptide, and 4) rat lung tissue lysate using this antibody. 1 and 0.1 ug/ml, respectively. goat anti-rabbit Ig HRP secondary antibody and PicoTect ECL substrate solution were used for this test. Note: This antibody was raised against an amino acid sequence that is 100% conserved in human, however testing shows that it does not detected the expected approximately 45 kD band in human lung lysate. Please use this antibody for human sample.

Background

Advanced glycation end-products receptor (RAGE) is reported to be a multiligand receptor of the immunoglobulin superfamily expressed in myoblasts. It is developmentally regulated in skeletal muscle. It is reported that RAGE along with Amphoterin stimulates myoblast differentiation by the combined effect of stimulation of differentiation and inhibition of proliferation, and deregulation of RAGE expression in myoblasts might contribute to their neoplastic transformation. Various studies report that RAGE signaling in microglia contributes to the pathogenesis of an inflammatory response that ultimately impairs neuronal function and directly affects amyloid accumulation.
