OATP2/8 Antibody (MDQ) Summary

This product was originally labeled as an antibody to OATP8. However, the amino acid sequence used as the immunizing peptide is 100% identical to OATP2. Furthermore, publications using this antibody show reactivity to both OATP2 and 8. As such, this antibody is reactive to both OATP2 and OATP8.
Synthetic peptide corresponding to residues M(1) D Q N Q H L N K T A E A Q P S E N K K T R Y(23) C of human OATP2.
The exact epitope within the immunizing peptide sequence is unknown.
NB100-74482 detects OATP2 and OATP8 from human tissue and cells.

The OATPs (organic anion transporter polypeptides) are a family of transport proteins that have been found to mediate the uptake of organic ions into hepatocyte cells. These proteins fall into the solute carrier family 21A (SLC21A), and are expressed in liver, kidney, and brain. These polypeptides are involved in the excretion of potentially toxic compounds and therefore play a role in the overall detoxification system of the body. Unlike other members of the OATP family, OATP2 and 8 have been detected exclusively in the liver, and there is an 80% amino acid sequence homology between these polypeptides. Other names for OATP2 include SLC21A6, OATP-C, and LST-1.

FAQs for OATP2/8 Antibody (NB100-74482). (Showing 1 - 1 of 1 FAQs).

  1. The customer is very confused with product name of #NB100-74482. SLC01B3(MDQ/5F260) was indicated on the vial label. SLC01B3 is alternative name of OATP8. But OATP2(MDQ) was indicated on the datasheet on your web. Furthermore, when the customer searched 5F260 on your web, #NB600-1158 (OATP8 Antibody (5F260)) appeared. I think something is wrong for #NB100-74482. Could you confirm the product name of suppliers' and let us know? As far as I looked the Internet, Clone MDQ reacts with both OATP2 and OATP8. Clone 5F260 also reacts with both OATP2 and OATP8? Is MDQ identical with 5F260?
    • Clone MDQ and clone 5F260 are two separate clones generated using the same immunogen. Both are also predicted to react with both OATP2 and OATP8, based on the sequence similarity.
