Background

This gene encodes a member of the mucin protein family. Mucins are high molecular weight glycoproteins produced by many epithelial tissues. The protein encoded by this gene is secreted and forms an insoluble mucous barrier that protects the gut lumen. The protein polymerizes into a gel of which 80% is composed of oligosaccharide side chains by weight. The protein features a central domain containing tandem repeats rich in threonine and proline that varies between 50 and 115 copies in different individuals. Alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been described, but their full-length nature is not known.

Limitations

FAQs for MUC2 Antibody (NBP1-31231). (Showing 1 - 2 of 2 FAQs).

  1. I want to know western blot of MUC2 (NBP1-31231) expression in which cell. I need a positive control.
    • A good positive control to use is Human Colon, small intestine, colonic tumors, bronchus, cervix and gall bladder. Please see UniProt Q02817.
  2. I am doing western bot, but I don not know which line is MUC2, so I need positive control. Now I want to know how did you get the western blot image after adding anti-MUC2 (NBP1-31231)?
    • The best positive controls to use are Human Colon, small intestine, colonic tumors, bronchus, cervix and gall bladder. Unfortunately we do not have a lysate that could be used as a positive control. Our lab used the following Western Blot protocol as a general guide to get the results from the WB image.
