This gene encodes loricrin, a major protein component of the cornified cell envelope found in terminally differentiated epidermal cells. Mutations in this gene are associated with Vohwinkel's syndrome and progressive symmetric erythrokeratoderma, both inherited skin diseases. [provided by RefSeq]

Reconstructed human epidermis tissues were embedded in paraffin. After successives baths in xylene and ethanol, antigen was retrieved using warm citrate (for 30 min). After a step of saturation, spécimens were incubated overnight with the primary antibody (1:100 dilution). Blue staining corresponds to nuclei while loricrin is visible in green.
