| Immunogen | The antibody reacts with the IL-10 antigen. |
| Specificity | This anti‑mIL‑10 neutralizes the biological activity of murine IL‑10. It does not cross‑react with Hu‑IL‑10. Murine interleukin 10 (IL 10) is a multifunctio¬nal 30 40 kDa cytokine which is produced by TH2 mouse T Helper cell clones and which inhibits the synthesis of several cytokines by TH1 cells. Interleukin 10 was for this reason originally known as the Cytokine Synthesis Inhibitory Factor (CSIF). Interleukin 10 has activities which involve a wide variety of cell types. These activities include:
inhibition of macrophage cytokine synthesis;
inhibition of antigen presentation (selective for TH1 cells);
enhancement of B cell survival;
enhancement of MHC class II expression;
contribution to the overall function of TH2 cells.
Murine IL 10 has been shown to exhibit extensive sequence similarity to Human IL 10 and to an open reading frame in the Epstein ¬Barr virus genome BLRF 1. In contrast to Human IL 10 which is active on murine cells, murine IL 10 is not active in human cells.
Given the aforementioned range of effects of IL 10 and its potential anti in¬flamma¬tory prop¬erties, antibodies capable of blocking the biologi¬cal activity are clearly essential in the study of these effects. |

Success of combined IL-10 and IL-12 therapy in colon cancer depends on IFN-gamma and gut barrier integrity By Jamshed Arslan, Pharm. D., PhD. Colon cancer is responsible for over 600,000 deaths per year worldwide. Colon cancer can be classified into two categories: mismatch repair (MMR)-deficient and MMR-proficient cancers... PPAR gamma - An important target in human metabolism Peroxisome proliferators are non-genotoxic carcinogens which are purported to exert their effect on cells by interacting with members of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily known as peroxisome proliferator activated receptors (PPARs). CD11b: Marker for a New Type of B Cell that Participates in Cell-Mediated Immunity Think B lymphocytes just produce antibodies? Think again! Although, of course, B cells are vital for the humoral immune response, many studies in recent years have begun to uncover antibody-independent actions of B cells: regulating T cells and thus a...
