Human COMP Quantikine ELISA Kit Summary

Background
The Quantikine Human COMP immunoassay is a 4.5 hour solid phase ELISA designed to measure human COMP in cell culture supernates, cell lysates, serum, and plasma. It contains NS0-expressed recombinant human COMP and has been shown to accurately quantitate the recombinant factor. Results obtained using natural human COMP showed linear curves that were parallel to the standard curves obtained u...sing the Quantikine kit standards. These results indicate that this kit can be used to determine relative mass values for naturally occurring COMP.

Background

COMP (Cartilage Oligomeric Matrix Protein), also known as Thrombospondin-5, is a multidomain calcium binding protein that associates with other extracellular matrix molecules. COMP associates into disulfide-linked homopentamers with a central hub and peripheral globular domains connected by flexible strands. An axial pore is formed by the coiled coil assembly and binds vitamin D3 which is involved in bone and cartilage metabolism. An RGD sequence in the third TSP type-3 repeat mediates chondrocyte attachment via Integrins a5b1 or aVb3. COMP is upregulated in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, hepatocellular carcinomas, chronic pancreatitis, and pancreatic carcinomas. Several mutations in COMP are associated with skeletal dysplasias.

FAQs for COMP/Thrombospondin-5 (DCMP0). (Showing 1 - 2 of 2 FAQs).

  1. I have synovial fluid sample and I want to work on Western bloting can you support me,how can I prepare this sample for WB technique for assay comp(cartilage oligomatrix protein )?
    • We currently sell four antibodies to cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP), all of which are validated for Western blotting. Although we have generated Western blot data using samples from human, bovine and rabbit cartilage, we do not have any testing data derived from synovial fluid samples. You may however find the following publication useful, in which the authors sampled synovial fluid from patients with rheumatoid arthritis and prepared this fluid for Western blot detection of the proteins SP-A and SP-D: PMC 2080374
  2. wondering what the difference is between your quantikine and duo set elisas?
    • Usually the duosets do not have the entire kit such as plates and buffers, whereas the other kits are complete.
