Human HGF Recombinant Protein Summary

Description
A disulfide-linked heterodimeric protein consisting of alpha and beta chains and corresponding to amino acids Gln32 - Ser728 of HGF.

Source: Mouse myeloma cell line, NS0

Preparation
Method
Novus' biologically active proteins are stringently purified to provide only the safest and most highly effective proteins available. This protein was expressed in E. coli, purified by HPLC, QC tested by SDS-PAGE and Western Blot and validated on appropriate cell lines for bioactivity. All HPLC and bioactivity data is provided for your assurance.
Details of Functionality
The ED50, as determined by induction of IL-11 secretion using human Saos-2 cells, is less than 1 ng/ml.

Storage
Store at 4C short term. Aliquot and store at -20C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
Concentration
LYOPH
Purity
SDS-PAGE
Reconstitution Instructions
Reconstitute with sterilized PBS or aqueous buffer to a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml. Stock solutions should be apportioned into working aliquots and stored at -20C. Further dilutions should be made in appropriately buffered solutions.

Notes

This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degrees C, but should be kept at -20 degrees C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is most stable at -20 to -80 degrees C, and can be stored for one week at 2-8 degrees C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degrees C to -80 degrees C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Background

HGF, also known as scatter factor and hepatopoietin A, is a multidomain protein in the plasminogen family. Bioactive HGF is a disulfide-linked dimer of 60 kDa a and 30 kDa b chains. Human HGF shares greater than 90% aa sequence identity with bovine, canine, feline, mouse, and rat HGF. It regulates branching tubulogenesis in epithelia by inducing the upregulation of Integrin a2b1 and the shedding of Nectin-1a. HGF also inhibits TSH-stimulated iodine uptake in the thyroid and promotes the motility of cardiac stem cells in damaged myocardium. HGF-dependent c-MET activation is implicated in the development of many human cancers.

Limitations

This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis. Peptides and proteins are guaranteed for 3 months from date of receipt.
