Centrifuge prior to opening. Reconstitute with sterilized PBS to a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml. Further dilutions should be made in appropriately buffered solutions. |
Notes
This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degrees C, but should be kept at -20 degrees C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is most stable at -20 to -80 degrees C, and can be stored for one week at 2-8 degrees C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degrees C to -80 degrees C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Background
CD25, also known as IL-2 R alpha, is a 55 kDa transmembrane protein in the common gamma chain (gamma c) family of cytokine receptors. It is primarily expressed on activated T cells and on regulatory T cells (Treg). A soluble form of CD25 can be generated by proteolytic cleavage of the cell surface receptor. CD25 associates with IL-2 R beta and gamma c/IL-2 R gamma/CD132 to form a high affinity receptor complex for IL-2. CD25 is required for activation induced cell death (AICD) of naive T cells, a mechanism responsible for deleting autoreactive T cell clones. It is also required for the development of CD4+CD25+ Treg cells which suppress autoreactive CD4+ T cells.
