Kit Components

Components
  1. Assay Diluent A (Item D): Diluent buffer containing 0.09% sodium azide aspreservative.
  2. Assay Diluent B (Item E): 5x concentrated buffer.
  3. BMP-7 Microplate (Item A): 96 wells coated with anti-human BMP-7.
  4. Detection Antibody BMP-7 (Item F): Biotinylated anti-human BMP-7. Eachvial is enough to assay half the microplate.
  5. HRP-Streptavidin Concentrate (Item G): 400x concentrated HRP-conjugatedstreptavidin.
  6. Note: Return unused wells to the pouch containing desiccant pack, reseal along entire edge.
  7. Standard Protein (Item C): Human BMP-7. 1 vial is enough to run eachstandard in duplicate.
  8. Stop Solution (Item I): 0.2 M sulfuric acid.
  9. TMB One-Step Substrate Reagent (Item H): 3,3’,5,5’-tetramethylbenzidine(TMB) in buffered solution.
  10. Wash Buffer Concentrate (20x) (Item B): 20x concentrated solution.

Background

The bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are a family of secreted signaling molecules that can induce ectopic bone growth. Many BMPs are part of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGFB) superfamily. BMPs were originally identified by an ability of demineralized bone extract to induce endochondral osteogenesis in vivo in an extraskeletal site. Based on its expression early in embryogenesis, the BMP encoded by this gene has a proposed role in early development and possible bone inductive activity.
