Background
Retrovirus receptors allow infection of human and murine cells by various retroviruses. The receptors that have been identified at the molecular level include CD4 (MIM 186940) for human immunodeficiency virus, Rec1 for murine ecotropic virus, and GLVR1 for gibbon ape leukemia virus (see MIM 182090). These 3 proteins show no homology to one another at the DNA or protein level. GLVR1 is a sodium-dependent phosphate symporter.[supplied by OMIM]

FAQs for SLC20A1 Antibody (NBP1-32252). (Showing 1 - 1 of 1 FAQ).
-
The predicted molecular weight of SLC20A1 protein is about 74 kDa. Why can this antibody (NBP1-32252) detect two bands in different cell types? The translational modification seems not to explain these variations in MW.
- SLC20A1 is a transmembrane protein and, as well as post-translational modification (1 extra phosphorylation site), another factor responsible for its differential migration in different species might be the differences in the integration of this protein in the membrane. It has 10 transmembrane regions and 11 topological regions in the sequence and the position of amino acids varies in mouse and human with respect to these regions in this protein.
