Background

DNA damage-binding protein 1 (DDB1) is a component of the UV-damaged DNA binding (UV-DDB) complex which minimally consists of DDB1 and DDB2.  At 1,140 amino acids in length and a predicted molecular weight of 127 kDa, human DDB1 is 99% identical to both its mouse and rat orthologues.  DDB1 is also a component of DCX (DDB1-CUL4-X-box) E3 Ubiquitin Ligase complexes where it serves to associate the Cullin-4 subunit to substrate recognition subunits such as Cereblon (CRBN), and various DCAF (DDB1-CUL4 Associate Factor) proteins.  This recombinant DDB1 (UniProt Q16531) is untagged.
