NF-H Antibody (RNF405) - BSA Free Summary

• Description: The antibody is shipped at ambient temperature and may be stored at 4C. For prolonged storage prepare appropriate aliquots and store at or below -20C. Prior to use, an aliquot is thawed slowly in the dark at ambient temperature, spun down again and used to prepare working dilutions by adding sterile phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.2). Repeated thawing and freezing should be avoided. Working dilutions should be stored at 4C, not refrozen, and preferably used the same day. If a slight precipitation occurs upon storage, this should be removed by centrifugation. It will not affect the performance or the concentration of the product.
• Immunogen: Derived by fusion of SP2/0-Ag14 Mouse myeloma cells with spleen cells from a Mouse immunized with a neurofilament preparation of calf brain tissue.

Background

Neurofilaments are 10nm intermediate filament proteins located in vertebrate neurons, which regulate axonal diameter. They are composed predominantly of the three major neurofilament proteins: NF-Light, NF-Medium and NF-Heavy. NF-H is the heavy or high molecular weight microfilament subunit and runs on SDS-PAGE gels in the range 180-220kDa, with some size variation in across species.

Antibodies to NF-H may be used to identify NF-H in neurons and to study neuronal processes in tissue sections and/or culture. NF-H antibodies can also be used to study microfilament accumulations seen in many neurological diseases, such as Lou Geri's disease or Alzheimer's disease.
