Background

MS4A3, also known as HTm4, is an intracytoplasmic membrane protein that is a member of the MS4A family of four-transmembrane proteins that also includes CD20 and Fc epsilon RI beta .  It is a cell cycle regulator expressed in the perinuclear area of human hematopoietic cells. The C-terminal region of MS4A3 interacts with cdc-associated phosphatase (KAP), enhancing its activity on cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (cdk2) and facilitating G(0)/G(1) arrest. The combined non-membrane segments of the 214 amino acid (aa), 25 kDa human MS4A3 show 53% and 52% aa identity with corresponding regions of mouse and rat MS4A3, respectively.
