Background

Interferon regulatory factor 1 (IRF1) is a member of the IRF family of transcription factors that plays a critical role in immune cell function and development. In addition to binding upstream regulatory regions of the type I IFN gene, IRF1 also regulates expression of MHC lass I, and plays a role in apoptosis.
