Novus' biologically active proteins are stringently purified to provide only the safest and most highly effective proteins available. This protein was expressed in E. coli, purified by HPLC, QC tested by SDS-PAGE and Western Blot and validated on appropriate cell lines for bioactivity. All HPLC and bioactivity data is provided for your assurance.
|Details of Functionality
IL1RAP Protein fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by inhibiting IL-1alpha-dependent proliferation of murine D10S cells is less than 50 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of > 2.0 x 10^4 IU/mg in the presence of 75 pg/ml rPoIL-1alpha.
| Protein/Peptide Type
Biologically Active Protein
> 97 % pure by SDS-PAGE and HPLC
Less than 0.1 EU/ug of endotoxin as determined by LAL method.
Disclaimer note: The observed molecular weight of the protein may vary from the listed predicted molecular weight due to post translational modifications, post translation cleavages, relative charges, and other experimental factors.
Packaging, Storage & Formulations
Store at 4C after rehydration. For extended storage after rehydration, add an equal volume of glycerol and store at -20C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Lyophilized from a 0.2 um filtered concentrated solution in 1 x PBS, pH 7.4, 1 mM DTT.
> 97 % pure by SDS-PAGE and HPLC
Reconstitute with sterilized distilled water or 0.1% BSA aqueous buffer to a final concentration of 0.1 - 1.0 mg/ml.
This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degrees C, but should be kept at -20 degrees C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is most stable at -20 to -80 degrees C, and can be stored for one week at 2-8 degrees C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degrees C to -80 degrees C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

IL-1RA was initially called the IL-1 inhibitor which is encoded by the IL1RN gene and it is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family. IL-1RA is secreted by various types of cells including immune cells, epithelial cells, and adipocytes. IL-RA has functions of inhibiting the activity of interleukin-1 by binding to receptor IL1R1 and preventing its association with the co-receptor IL1RAP for signaling. IL-1RA is also used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune disease in which IL-1 plays a key role. The porcine IL-1RA is a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 152 amino acids and it has been shown to block the inflammatory responses induced by IL-1 both in vitro and in vivo. The protein shows 26 % amino acid homology to IL-1beta and 19 % homology to IL-1alpha. It also shares 78 %~80 % a.a. sequence identity with murine, rat and equine IL-1RA
