GAP-43 [p Ser41] Antibody Summary

Immunogen
Phosphopeptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding the phosphoSer41 of Gap-43.
Modification
p Ser41
Localization
Growth cone
Marker
Neuronal Marker
Specificity
Specific for the ~50k Gap-43 protein phosphorylated at Ser41. In some tissues the antibody also recognizes a higher molecular weight protein that is also recognized by the pan Gap-43 antibody, that may be a Gap-43 aggregate or oligomer. Immunolableing is blocked by the phosphopeptide used as antigen but not by the corresponding dephosphopeptide. Immunolabeling is completely eliminated by treatment with gamma-Ptase.
Predicted Species
Human (100%), Mouse (100%), Canine (100%), Chicken (100%), Bovine (100%), Finch (100%), Zebrafish (100%), Xenopus (100%), Primate (100%). Backed by our 100% Guarantee.

Applications/Dilutions

Dilutions
  • Western Blot 1:1000
Application Notes
NB300-179 can be used in Western blot where a band is seen at ~ 43 kDa, representing phosphorylated Gap43. In some tissues the antibody also recognizes a lower MW band that is also recognized by the PAN Gap43 antibody and, thus, it is likely to be a breakdown product. Immunohistochemical analysis has not yet been determined.

Packaging, Storage & Formulations

Storage
Store at -20C. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
Buffer
10mM HEPES (pH 7.5), 0.15M NaCl, 0.1 mg/ml BSA and 50% Glycerol
Preservative
No Preservative
Purity
Immunogen affinity purified

Background

GAP-43 is expressed by developing and regenerating neurons, and to a lesser extent, reactive glial cells. It is used widely to specifically label injured neurons and to score neuronal regeneration.
