Background

TIPIN has been shown to interact with the protein Timeless, which plays a role in DNA repair. TIPIN has been shown to play two roles in cells, in helping to maintain the DNA damage checkpoint, and in suppressing DNA damage in untreated cells. It interacts with the replicative helicase to protect cells against genotoxic stress. When it is knocked out, cells become sensitive to ionizing radiation.
