This product is unpurified. The exact concentration of antibody is not quantifiable.
This Smac (78-1-118) antibody is useful for Immunoprecipitation and Western Blot, where a band is seen at ~25kDa. For better results IP prior to Western blot is recommended.
The observed molecular weight of the protein may vary from the listed predicted molecular weight due to post translational modifications, post translation cleavages, relative charges, and other experimental factors.
Alternate Names for SMAC/Diablo Antibody (78-1-118)
diablo, IAP-binding mitochondrial protein
Direct IAP-binding protein with low pI
mitochondrial Smac protein
Second mitochondria-derived activator of caspase
Smac/DIABLO, a mitochondrial protein, activates various forms of apoptosis. This activation may be due to the neutralization of one or more members of the IAP family of apoptosis inhibitory proteins. Smac exits the mitochondria and enter the cytosol during certain apoptosis triggered events. Mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis is important in animal development and tissue homeostasis, with alterations resulting in a range of malignant disorders. Upon apoptotic stimuli, the mitochondrial proteins cytochrome c and Smac/DIABLO are released into the cytosol. The release of these proteins, however, occurs via different mechanisms (2,3).
