Background

Human replication factor C (RFC) is a hetero-pentameric protein consisting of the p140, p40, p38, p37, and p36 subunits. RFC functions in the loading of the DNA polymerase delta processivity factor, PCNA, onto a primed DNA template during DNA synthesis and DNA repair. RFC may also participate in the DNA-damage checkpoint response with a PCNA-like heter-trimer, consisting of Hus1, Rad1, and Rad9.
