Background

LMW (Low Molecular Weight) kininogen is a major extracellular cysteine proteinase inhibitor. It is split by tissue kallikrein to produce kallidin. Kallidin, in turn, is converted into bradykinin. The kallikreinkinin system is a mediator of inflammation in humans.
