Notes
This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degrees C, but should be kept at -20 degrees C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is most stable at -20 to -80 degrees C, and can be stored for one week at 2-8 degrees C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degrees C to -80 degrees C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Background
Interleukin 34 (IL-34) is a 39-45 kDa homodimeric cytokine that signals through M-CSF R/CSF1R. It is secreted by synovial fibroblasts, neurons, keratinocytes, splenic sinusoidal endothelial cells, and osteoblasts. It promotes the development and survival of osteoclasts, macrophages, Langerhans cells, and neurons. In brain, IL-34 induces TGF-B, HO-1, and IDE production by microglia and may additionally bind and signal through PTP-z.
