Western Blot: Growth Hormone R Antibody (JU01-34) [NBP2-75518] - Analysis of Growth hormone receptor on different lysates with Rabbit anti-Growth Hormone R antibody at 1/500 dilution. Lane 1: Rat brain tissue lysate Lane 2: Mouse brain tissue lysate Lane 3: Human brain tissue lysate Lysates/proteins at 20 ug/Lane. Predicted band size: 71 kDa Observed band size: 140 kDa Exposure time: 2 minutes; 8% SDS-PAGE gel. Proteins were transferred to a PVDF membrane and blocked with 5% NFDM/TBST for 1 hour at room temperature. The primary antibody at 1/500 dilution was used in 5% NFDM/TBST at room temperature for 2 hours. Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG - HRP Secondary Antibody at 1:300,000 dilution was used for 1 hour at room temperature.

Background

Growth hormone receptor encodes a protein that is a transmembrane receptor for growth hormone. Binding of growth hormone to the receptor leads to receptor dimerization and the activation of an intra- and intercellular signal transduction pathway leading to growth. A common alternate allele of this gene, called GHRd3, lacks exon three and has been well-characterized. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Laron syndrome, also known as the growth hormone insensitivity syndrome (GHIS), a disorder characterized by short stature. Other splice variants, including one encoding a soluble form of the protein (GHRtr), have been observed but have not been thoroughly characterized.
