Background

Ghrelin is an endogenous ligand for the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR; MIM 601898) and is involved in regulating growth hormone (GH; MIM 139250) release. Ghrelin is derived from a preprohormone called preproghrelin, which also generates a second peptide called obestatin. Obestatin is an endogenous ligand for the orphan G protein-coupled receptor GPR39 (MIM 602886) and is involved in satiety and decreased food intake.

1. Do you know if this ghrelin ELISA kit distinguishes between acylated ghrelin and de-acylated ghrelin?
   • This kit has not been tested on the different forms of Ghrelin. It recognizes AA 39-51 of human Ghrelin. The lab thinks it will likely be able to detect both forms
2. wondering what the difference is between your quantikine and duo set elisas?
   • Usually the duosets do not have the entire kit such as plates and buffers, whereas the other kits are complete.
