DGK-gamma (Diacylglycerol kinase gamma) is a 90 kDa, 791 amino acid (aa), type I member of the eukaryocytic diacylglycerol kinase family of enzymes. DGK-gamma possesses EF-hand, C1/Cys-rich zinc finger and catalytic domains, and is highly enriched in the retina and in cerebellar Purkinje cells. Expression elsewhere is limited to inactive isoforms missing kinase domain aa 451‑475, or zinc finger aa 333‑372. Upon calcium and PKC gamma -mediated activation, it translocates to the plasma membrane. DGK-gamma is also found in the nucleus, where it may promote cell cycle progression. Over aa 1‑126, human DGK-gamma shares 83% and 79% aa identity with mouse and rat DGK-gamma , respectively.
