Desmin Antibody (DE-U-10)

Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence: Desmin Antibody (DE-U-10) [NB110-1790] - Cardiomyocyte isolated from rat heart stained using monoclonal anti-Desmin Antibody (NB110-1790). The cross-striation corresponding to the Z bands is evident. Some striations are continuously crossing the cell, others show branching that is equivalent to the course of the sarcomeres. Due to the isolation procedure, the cell contains only one membrane of the intercalated disc at both ends that labels for desmin. Nuclei are stained with propidium iodide. Background

Desmin is the protein subunit of muscle-type intermediate filaments (IFs). Desmin is one of the five major groups of IFs and is found predominantly in skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle.DE-U-10 labels desmin in tumors derived from muscle tissue (leiomyomas and rhabdomyosarcomas) (Debus E et al.).
