Alternate Names for Cytokeratin 18 Antibody (SB38b)
Background
Keratins are a family of intermediate filament proteins that assemble into filaments through forming heterodimers of one type I keratin (keratins 9 to 23) and one type II keratin (keratins 1-8). The two keratin types share only 30% sequence homology. (2-6) Keratins demonstrate tissue- and differentiation-specific expression profiles. Cytokeratin 18, also known as keratin 18, is a type I intermediate filament protein of approximately 48 kDa. It exists as a heterotetramer composed of two type I and two type II keratins. Cytokeratin 18 is expressed in all simple type epithelia and basal cells of many squamous and non-epidermal epithelia, and is often co-expressed with cytokeratin 8. (7-9) Tissues from the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract and urogenital tract, as well as endocrine and exocrine tissues and mesothelial cells are positive for cytokeratin 18. The SB38b monoclonal antibody reacts specifically with keratin 18 and recombinant N-terminal keratin 18.

-
I have a question about NBP1-28569 human sample reactivity. I want to find an antibody which specifically recognize mouse keratin18, I don't want it cross react with human keratin18. It looks like this antibody recognize human keratin 18 as well. Is that right?
- I have verified that this antibody has actually been tested for Western blot and ICC for both HT29 and HCC38 cell lines (human cell lines). From what I can find in our testing records, we have only tested this for human samples, not mouse. I would recommend choosing one of our other cytokeratin18 antibodies that have been tested for mouse.
