Background

Activins are dimers consisting of two beta subunits. Several types of beta subunits have been described. These beta subunits can also heterodimerize with a constant alpha subunit to form Inhibins. The beta _c subunit homodimerizes to form Activin C and has also been reported to heterodimerize with the beta _A subunit.
