Novus Biologicals launches a new GAP43 antibody

GAP43 antibodies, also known as growth associated protein 43 antibodies, are widely employed neuronal markers.  Novus Biologicals' new GAP43 antibody (catalog number NBP1-41123) is a well tested neuronal marker and has already been cited in 21 publications.  This sheep polyclonal anti-GAP43 antibody is useful for Western blot analysis where a band can be seen at 43-48kDa. It is also useful for immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry on frozen sections.  Cross-reactive species include canine, feline, human, mouse, monkey and rat.

GAP43 is a crucial component for regenerative response in the nervous system that is present at high levels in neuronal growth cones during development and axonal regeneration.  Although GAP43 is generally produced during neuronal growth phases, it is also expressed in certain regions of the normal adult nervous system.  HuD, a neuron-specific ELAV/Hu family member, interacts with and stabilizes GAP43 mRNA in developing neurons and leads to increased levels of GAP43 protein.  Novus also provides other GAP43 antibodies, a wide variety of Neuronal Cell Markers, and growth and development research tools.
