• Application Notes: WB: Preliminary experiments gave an approx. 18 kDa band in human brain lysates after 1 ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 56.3 kDa band according to NP_848018.1 and 35.8 kDa band according to NP_777568.1. The 18 kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide. IHC-P: Human pancreas shows strong staining in cytoplasm in select acinar cells.

Background

Ymer encodes a soluble, cytoplasmic, tyrosine-phosphorylated protein with multiple ubiquitin-interacting domains. Mutations in this gene cause nonsyndromic, postlingual, progressive sensorineural DFNA44 hearing loss. In mouse, the protein is expressed in the inner ear during development and postnatal maturation and associates with microtubule-based structures. This protein may also function as a negative regulator of NF-kB signaling and as an effector of epidermal growth factor (EGF)-mediated cell signaling. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. [provided by RefSeq]
