Background

CD34 is a glycosylated type I transmembrane protein; it was discovered as a hematopoietic cell-surface antigen (1, 2, 3). Rat CD33 cDNA encodes a 386 amino acid (aa) precursor that contains a 36 aa signal sequence, a 256 aa extracellular domain (ECD), a 21 aa transmembrane sequence, and a 74 aa cytoplasmic domain. Within the ECD, rat CD34 shares 81% and 52% aa sequence identity with mouse and human CD34, respectively. This single-pass sialomucin‑like transmembrane protein is heavily glycosylated and phosphorylated by Protein kinase C (PKC) (4, 5). CD34 is found on multipotent precursors, bone marrow stromal cells, embryonic fibroblasts, vascular endothelia, as well as some populations of mesenchymal stem cells, and tumor cell lines, and it is a common marker for diverse progenitors (6). CD34 is involved in the adhesion of stem cells to the bone marrow extracellular matrix or to stromal cells.

FAQs for CD34 (9654-CD). (Showing 1 - 1 of 1 FAQ).

  1. I wonder if you have a CD105 or CD34 antibody suitable for IHC that is specific for human and do not bind mouse?
    • We do not have any anti-human CD34 or CD105 antibodies that are confirmed to NOT detect the mouse protein. When we have tested an antibody and confirmed that it will not react with mouse samples, we will add Mu(-) to the datasheet, and unfortunately all of our CD105 and CD34 antibodies will either detect the mouse protein, or they have not been used in mouse samples before.
