Prohibitin Antibody (II-14-10) Summary
Immunogen
BALB/C mice were injected with purified recombinant rat prohibitin protein.
Localization
Cytoplasmic
Marker
Mitochondria Marker
Specificity
This is specific to 30kD protein known as Prohibitin. Prohibitin is an evolutionarily conserved protein located in the innermembrane of mitochondria. Prohibitin shows antiproliferative activity and has been proposed to play a role in normal cell cycle regulation, replicative senescence, cellular immortalization, and tumor suppression. This antibody cross reacts with mouse, rat, and pig.

This antibody may be diluted to a titer of 1:50-1:100 in an ABC method. We suggest an incubation period of 30 minutes at room temperature. Formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections require high temperature antigen unmasking with 10 mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0 prior to immunostaining. Use in Western blot reported in scientific literature (PMID 22595756).
