Background
CLEC12A is also known as MICL or Myeloid inhibitory C-type lectin receptor, and is a member of the C-type lectin receptor superfamily (1). C-type lectins are important innate immune receptors detecting PAMPs and enhancing antigen specific responses among a very diverse role. Often lectins may enhance cell-cell interactions and also mediate pathogen recognition using C-type lectin receptors (2). CLEC12A expression has been found in normal myeloid cells and in acute myeloid leukemia cells, neutrophils, eosinophils, monocytes and dendritic cells. CLEC12A has also been found to act as an enhancer of immune responses - CLEC12A monoclonal antibody enhances specific antibody responses (3).
