Background

Lymphotoxin beta is a type II transmembrane protein member of the TNF ligand superfamily and is now designated TNFSF3. Lymphotoxin beta associates with Lymphotoxin alpha to form two types of heterotrimers, Lymphotoxin alpha ₁ beta ₂ and Lymphotoxin  alpha ₂ beta ₁. Lymphotoxin beta is expressed by activated CD4 T cells, unpolarized IL‑2‑secreting effector T cells, and Th1 effector cells.
