Background

Integrin beta 7 is a 130 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the integrin beta chain family. It heterodimerizes with either Integrin alpha 4 or alpha E. Whereas, Integrin alpha E beta 7 is a receptor for E-Cadherin, Integrin alpha 4/ beta 7 is a receptor for fibronectin, MAdCAM 1 and VCAM1. The extracellular domain of mouse Integrin beta 7 shares 94% and 87% amino acid sequence identity with that of rat and human Integrin beta 7, respectively.
