Background
Interleukin 6 (IL6) is a potent pleiotropic cytokine that regulates cell growth and differentiation and plays an important role in immune response. The protein encoded by this gene is a subunit of the receptor complex for IL6. The IL6 receptor is a protein complex consisting of this protein and interleukin 6 signal transducer (IL6ST/GP130/IL6-beta), a receptor subunit also shared by many other cytokines. Dysregulated production of IL6 and this receptor are implicated in the pathogenesis of many diseases, such as multiple myeloma, autoimmune diseases and prostate cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported. [provided by RefSeq]

In the immunohistochemistry paraffin section protocol...what is the volume of primary antibody that should be added to the section? is it specific for each antibody or a general amount? My antibody is anti il-6 receptor NBP2 14993
- Thanks for contacting Novus Biologicals technical support. To answer your question, we do not have any specific protocol for NBP2-14993, however the dilution we recommend for IHC-P is 1:100-1:1000. Please note this is a range we recommend and you have to optimize it on your end. You can try three different dilutions for instance, 1:100, 1:500 and 1:1000 to see which one gives the best results. For some of our antibodies we do recommend specific protocols to follow but for NBP2-14993, you can follow our general guideline. I hope this information helps. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
