Packaging, Storage & Formulations

Storage
Store at 4C after rehydration. For extended storage after rehydration, add an equal volume of glycerol and store at -20C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Buffer
Lyophilized from a 0.2 um filtered concentrated solution in PBS, pH 7.4.
Preservative
No Preservative

LYOPH
Purity
> 97 % pure by SDS-PAGE and HPLC
Reconstitution Instructions
Briefly centrifuge vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer containing 0.1 % BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Stock solutions should be apportioned into working aliquots and stored at < or = -20 C.

Notes

This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degrees C, but should be kept at -20 degrees C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is most stable at -20 to -80 degrees C, and can be stored for one week at 2-8 degrees C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degrees C to -80 degrees C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Background

Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1beta) is a non-secreted proinflammatory cytokine produced mainly by activated macrophages, as well as neutrophils, epithelial cells, and endothelial cells. It possesses metabolic, physiological, haematopoietic activities, and plays one of the central roles in the regulation of the immune responses. Both IL-1alpha and IL-1beta binds to the same receptor and has similar but not identical biological properties; The mature human IL-1beta shares 96% amino acid sequence identity with rhesus and 67 % - 78 % with canine, mouse and rat IL-1beta.

Limitations

This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis. Peptides and proteins are guaranteed for 2 years from date of receipt.

IL-1 beta (interleukin 1 beta, lymphocyte activating factor (LAF))
IL-1 was originally identified and cloned as a lymphocyte mitogen and much later, was found to be comprised of two closely related but distinct proteins, interleukin 1 alpha (IL-1 alpha) and interleukin 1 beta (IL-1 beta). Both these proteins bind...  Read full blog post.
