            | Background |
The Quantikine Human Fetuin A Immunoassay is a 4.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed to measure human Fetuin A in cell culture supernates, serum, and plasma. It contains NS0-expressed recombinant human Fetuin A and has been shown to accurately quantitate the recombinant factor. Results obtained using natural human Fetuin A showed linear curves that were parallel to the standard curves obtained... using the Quantikine kit standards. These results indicate that this kit can be used to determine relative mass values for naturally occurring human Fetuin A. |

                     Background

Fetuins are members of the cystatin family of proteases. Secreted by the liver, fetuins can be found at high levels in serum. Fetuin A promotes phagocytosis of apoptotic cells and plays a role in bone development, calcium homeostasis and insulin sensitivity. Fetuin B functions as an inhibitor of basic calcium phosphate precipitation.
