Background

Alpha-methylacyl-CoA racemase is responsible for the conversion of pristanoyl-CoA and C27-bile acyl-CoAs to their (S)-stereoisomers, which are the only stereoisomers that can be degraded via peroxisomal beta-oxidation.[supplied by OMIM]
