Specific for the neuraminidase resistant form of the TRA-1-60 antigen that is expressed upon the surface of human teratocarcinoma stem cells (EC), human embryonic germ cells (EG) and human embryonic stem cells (ES). No immunoreactivity is seen with murine EC, EG or ES cells. TRA-1-60 reacts with a sialidase-sensitive epitope.
Test in a species/application not listed above to receive a full credit towards a future purchase.
Human. No immunoreactivity is seen with murine EC, EG or ES cells.
Alternate Names for TRA-1-60(R) Antibody (TRA-1-60)
TRA-1-60 is a cell-surface protein involved in cell differentiation. Cell surface antigens are powerful tools for characterizing the function and expression of developmentally regulated cells during both embryogenesis and oncogenesis. The TRA-1-60 epitope is also found on human embryonic stem (ES) cells and primordial germ cells, and TRA-1-60 serves as a serum marker in patients with germ cell tumors. Investigation into the identity of the TRA-1-60 epitope demonstrated that it is a carbohydrate carried by a cell surface, sialylated, keratan sulfate proteoglycan. Subsequent evidence implicated podocalyxin as a carrier for the TRA-1-60 epitope.
