Western Blot: TIA1 Antibody (JM42-11) [NBP2-67203] - Analysis of TIA1 on Jurkat cell lysates. Proteins were transferred to a PVDF membrane and blocked with 5% BSA in PBS for 1 hour at room temperature. The primary antibody (1/500) was used in 5% BSA at room temperature for 2 hours. Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG - HRP Secondary Antibody at 1:5,000 dilution was used for 1 hour at room temperature.

Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence: TIA1 Antibody (JM42-11) [NBP2-67203] - Staining TIA1 in Hela cells (red). The nuclear counter stain is DAPI (blue). Cells were fixed in paraformaldehyde, permeabilised with 0.25% Triton X100/PBS.

Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin: TIA1 Antibody (JM42-11) [NBP2-67203] - Analysis of paraffin-embedded human tonsil tissue using anti-TIA1 antibody. Counter stained with hematoxylin.

Background

The product encoded by this gene is a member of a RNA-binding protein family and possesses nucleolytic activity against cytotoxic lymphocyte (CTL) target cells. It has been suggested that this protein may be involved in the induction of apoptosis as it preferentially recognizes poly(A) homopolymers and induces DNA fragmentation in CTL targets. The major granule-associated species is a 15-kDa protein that is thought to be derived from the carboxyl terminus of the 40-kDa product by proteolytic processing. Alternative splicing resulting in different isoforms of this gene product has been described in the literature.
