• Application Notes: This antibody may be used to detect unproteolyzed RNA polymerase II or to inhibit specific transcription from class II promoters. This is a polyol-responsive antibody and can be used in gentle purifications of RNA polymerase II from from wheat germ, calf thymus, and yeast and is likely to purify RNA polymerase II from most eukaryotic organisms.It inhibits promoter-directed transcription, but it does not inhibit elongation in the nonspecific transcription assay.

Reactivity Notes

Cross-reacts with S. cerevisiae and Xenopus laevis. Expected to cross-react with a wide range of other species due to sequence identity. Please note that this antibody is reactive to Mouse and derived from the same host, Mouse. Additional Mouse on Mouse blocking steps may be required for IHC and ICC experiments. Background

RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) is an essential component of the RNAP II transcription elongation complex. Recruitment of RNA processing factors to the elongation complex is coordinated by the phosphorylation of Serine-2 and Serine-5 residues within the C-terminal repeat (YSPTSPS) domain of the largest subunit of RNAPII.
