Background

EKLF is an essential transcriptional activator that directs high-level expression of the adult beta-globin promoter by binding to its CACCC element. Probably serves as a general switch factor for erythroid development. Human EKLF is expressed in bone marrow and erythroleukemic cells lines but not in myeloid or lymphoid cell lines
