Human IFN-beta Quantikine ELISA Kit Summary

Background
The Quantikine® Human IFN-beta Immunoassay is a 4.5 hour solid phase ELISA designed to measure human IFN-beta in cell culture supernates. It contains CHO cell-expressed recombinant human IFN-beta and has been shown to accurately quantitate the recombinant factor. Results obtained using natural human IFN-beta showed linear curves that were parallel to the standard curves obtained using t...he Quantikine® kit standards. These results indicate that this kit can be used to determine relative mass values for natural human IFN-beta.

Background

Interferon-beta (IFN-beta) is a cytokine that is produced by fibroblasts and pathogen-exposed dendritic cells, macrophages, and endothelial cells. It signals through the heterodimeric IFN-alpha/beta Receptor. IFN-beta-deficient mice show increased susceptibility to experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), a disease model of human multiple sclerosis (MS). Furthermore, IFN-beta has been shown to suppress the Th17 cell response in both MS and EAE and has commonly been used as a treatment for MS.
